expensive, but I suppose NOT repaving roads and driveways makes up for it.

I would never get 2 guys to drill and pull back 800’ a day along with

That is two drill shots. So two pull backs. Moving and setting up. If I
get 450/’day complete out of a 3 man crew I am happy.

Other than people that are less productive due to having more difficult
ground to work in, does this math work out?

  Rough number for 2 men, 1 vermeer 20x22 drill, 1 mini-x, 2 trucks, 2
trailers, and 1 hydrovac is about $50k a month (including materials).

My guys produce about 800ft a day of conduit and vaults on 4x10 work weeks.

This yields roughly 12000ft a month which breaks down to about $4/ft.

Once equipment is paid off, the cost is closer to $1.50-2/ft.

This is in rural subdivisions where we have to drill 100%. When we catch a
break and can use the plow, we can knock out thousands of feet daily.

Has anyone calculated their TCO on an HDD machine? After figuring in
the operator, maintenance, tooling/bits, etc what do you end up spending
  on this?
