The problem is you will have water with sediment, them maybe it might dry out
and get multiple cycles of this over they years with the sediment consolidating
into concrete in the bottom. The only solution is to hopefully get some air to
pass and then keep flushing it out with water. Sometimes you have to let the
water soak for 2-3 days between blow out cycles. This has been a problem for
me in 4-6” duct. Normally 1.25” and smaller it is mostly water.

I have used a shopvac to blow water out of a buried PVC conduit with Cat5
cables in it. I think I shoved the crevice tool into the conduit alongside the
cables and then taped over it with 2” electrical tape to mostly seal it. This
was only about 25 feet of conduit though, and it was water not mud. It was
like a geyser at the other end though.

Why haven't you already invented this product? That will sell itself.

Maybe toss in some diapers with the sodium polyacrylate that swells up and
absorbs like 100 times its weight in water. But then it might bust out the
cover on the handhole, like The Hulk bursting out of his clothes.

Is it normal for the duct to be full of mud? That seems ungood. I’m
also assuming the fiber in that duct is carrying traffic and it would be very
bad to break it and then not be able to replace it.

You still need a way to get air in the duct. Either this:
https://www.gmptools.com/innerduct-pressurization-test-kit/ or this
https://www.gmptools.com/line-blowing/ to attach to the compressor. Neither
tool is very expensive (relative to the stupid price of most things fiber)

Put the real cable in the one side and block the other port or use
it for water. Hum… water going backwards through the compressor isn’t a great
idea. And pushing air back the water supply isn’t great. OK, fill it with
water and block the other port. Add air and wait. Once you have half decent
airflow change to water.

You might get away with sealing it up really good where the fiber
exits and then making a hole in the side of the duct small enough for the tip
of an air blower. Not sure how much air you will get this way but easy to try.
Use mastic and then tape to seal it. You might be able to couple a pressure
washer to it too.

I have a clamp thing that clamps over the duct and cable and
seals it all
up. It has an air port coming in from the side. And I use a 375
CFM 150
              psi compressor.

I am guessing you could slip a copper tube down the duct and tape
the crap
out of everything with black vinyl tape. Just use as much air as
you can
get. Be sure to inject as much water as you can inject first.

How do you seal it up with the existing fiber in there to be able
to
blow it? How much PSI do you use? Will a portable air
compressor be
enough? Other end of the conduit is in a building, so I can only
blow
              the mud 1 way :)

Subject: [AFMUG] Locating mud filled conduit

Anybody have secrets for locating mud filled conduit? Trying
to locate
a 1" poly with a non-toneable fiber installed in it. No trace
wire
installed. Conduit is full of Mud, and at the bottom of a
handhole that
is also filled with Mud. Conduit goes from handhole under a
parking
lot, so digging to find it isn't an option either. We were not
involved
in the installation of this conduit, but it is now our problem.

We got a flat steel fish tape pushed in just far enough to
finish the
current locate request, but it's not going any farther. At
some point
in the future I'm probably going to get a locate request
further down
the conduit path. What super-secret method do you guys that
live and
breath underground work have for dealing with this?
