Doesn’t much matter where you put it as long as current is going through it.   
You might want it between the return line and the battery 0V post so that the 
voltage is closer to 0 if the input range of your metering is low.   i.e. - if 
the maximum input voltage on your voltage sensor is 10V you don’t want it on 
the 58V side of the batteries.
