I generally put the shunt in between the battery and the ground.  That way you 
can see current going both ways during charge and discharge.  This is important 
for solar sites.  
If you are just wanting to monitor load, put it between the battery and the 
load distribution panel.  
Or perhaps you want to monitor just charger current.  That will equal load 
current once the battery is fully charged.

Multiple ways to do this.

quick question I have  tpdin-monitor-web2 and looking to wire up battery shunt 
my question is how do I wire this up? I have an battery bank do I connect the 
wire shunt to the neg side of the battery or positive side of battery then have 
wire going to the tpdin monitor or what?
