Very well put.

This isn't pointed at you, its just a frustration I have.
I don't like how someone has an opposing viewpoint and automatically
"labels" are thrown around like "alt-right" and "far left". Are there
people out there that are capable of a wide range of thought? Labeling
people like this is disrespectful. Its why the media usually comes up
with names and catch phrases to summarize anyone who has an alternative
opinion. It allows people to immediately dismiss facts and or possibly
important truths from large groups of people. Why not step back from
it all. Remove the polarization and the endless dog chasing its tail.
Its a hell of a lot more fun stepping back and seeing both sides.
I was born and raised Catholic but I don't consider myself Christian or
affiliated with any religion. Its unclassified what I am even though I
do follow similar beliefs. So people who call me Christian offend me,
and at the same time compliment me. But they are wrong either way. So
why judge someone immediately or label them?
I'm a veteran of flame wars back to the 80's across 300 baud modems and
earlier. I like to throw out opposing viewpoints on purpose to stir the
pot and get people out of their comfort level and actually consider
alternative trains of thought (whether left or right). How can we push
the boundaries of thought, knowledge if you tow the party line? Why not
ponder "what if" the other side is right? Its disturbing to see how
delusional some people are at the extreme they are at.
So don't get offended with me if I'm throwing out some things so this
discussion isn't some echo chamber.
For example early on I was of the opinion that this was going to be far
worse than we imagined and China's numbers were way low. That millions
of Chinese died and that this was going to destroy the world as we know
it. Then I started to see the truth and look at all perspectives. I've
come to a realization that the reaction was worse than the actual virus.
I'm still not sure but one thing I do know is that life will go on and
the sun will rise tomorrow.

I have seen them swinging both left and right. The main issue is that
the alt-right seems to have issues with facts.
I'm not religious, so I could give a shit about lent.

I will say, the snopes articles that I have researched after being
told they were biased, were slightly biased. Just slightly but I did
not consider them as fair and balanced as they would like people to
believe.
I used to really enjoy and use snopes. But then my alt-right son
told me about a few cases to take a close look at. And he was
right. I did not have the same conclusions as he did that they are
terribly biased with an agenda etc etc. After that though I did
read their stuff with a bit of a jaundiced eye. It was clear they
chose to ignore or discount evidence favorable to the right but they
don’t do the same, or at least not the the same degree to the left.
If they give the benefit of the doubt, the benefit seemingly always
swings left instead of right most of the time.
If they have a choice on how to couch a response, they choose words
that tend to make the left look better than the right.

I am always amazed at how disconnected the far right can be from
what I think is reality. Snopes is fact based and Wikipedia as a
whole is pretty darn unbiased. Just because you don't like facts
doesn't make them biased.
