I translated it to a per head cost. He leases the ranch from a trust for
the entire ranch of 40k acres. What a head is worth depends on how you sell
them but I think he mostly sells heifers without cows and all yearling
bulls for $1800 to $2500 but it is a per pound price. He is doing well as
he now has a zero cost basis in them now.

As a side note, i think there is a national case working its way to the
supreme court right now that alleges the very few packers have increased
the price to the consumer but there has been no correlating price increase
to the producers.
