I grew up in the pacific northwest. Surgeon sometimes was fantastic, sometimes
was so nasty fishy you could not eat it. I guess it has to do with the
preparation.

IMHO, it isn't about you, it is about being a responsible member of
society. I'm not judging, or saying we are at that point, but there is a point
at which the responsible thing to do is cancel large gatherings to flatten the
