Ken,

I agree with you 100%. Listening to CDC and other official sources are very beneficial. That is pretty much the only place I try to get my information from. I don't consider them media. My beef is with the big guys NBC, FOX, CNN, ABC, etc. Not to mention the constant noise from the likes of HuffPost, Quartz, Daily Beast, The Atlantic, etc. It is like sitting in a room with a bunch of kindergartners yelling me me me and trying to tell a bigger story them the others so you will listen to them. Not to mention the constant stream of crap on social media.

I also agree with you that I have wasted too much time om this crap. So, I'm going to stop and go back to something more productive like video gaming.

Going to be interesting on how long the media can milk this for. We as a society have a very short attention span. Long before this virus fizzles out, the masses with get bored with it. They will just start tuning it out and start worrying about bigger things like the bachelor and the Kardashians.

Why must we assume Italy is going to be then normal. This virus is in or has been in 121 countries. Several of those countries have had it before Italy has had its first. By far Italy on a percentage basis is the worst case. I don't think it is fair to declare everyone one is going to end up like Italy. Why is Italy so bad? Could it be the weather? Could it be something genetic in their DNA? Could it be the large amount of tourist moving though the country? Could it be the locals do more cash transactions than other countries? Could it be they almost french kiss each other with every hello or good bye? Many, many, many factors. But just to assume everyone is going to turn out like Italy is just part of the fear mongering.

The cases grow exponentially every day and what will happen is our hospitals have no surge capacity. 20% of the people who get it will need ICU level of care. There isn’t capacity for that unless we flatten the curve. The same number of people will probably get the virus, the difference will be that our health care system can handle the load if it is stretched over time.

Social distancing is the only way to flatten the curve.
