I haven't done this, but I'd thought about bolting unistrut to the floor
of a van and then mounting the roller things to the unistrut with spring
nuts. The thought was to be able to slide them side to side on the
unistrut to accommodate different sized spools. It might be a convenient
way to get it on and off a trailer too.
Those things are heavier than you might imagine though. "Convenient"
would be relative.

Actually Adam that is one of the stands that I was considering. I would like to
be able to store it away between uses so my intent is not to bolt down to the
trailer permanently but to be able to move it from trailer to trailer as needed

Actually....ignore me. My idea is idiotic for a trailer. It works in
a van.
In a trailer the rain and mud would ruin the rollers.

There's a type that you bolt to a flat surface and it has rollers on
it. You're limited to one width of reel based on where you bolt down
the rollers.
This is an example.....though I wouldn't pay that much:

You can bolt that down to your trailer and still use the trailer for
other things. Set the spool on it and run a big ratchet strap through
the center hole to keep it secure during transport.

Cant I'm already pulling a gooseneck with towers sections loaded.
Most of the time I just need it for a 24-30" reel. Occasionally I
need it for a 5' spool but rarely

For stuff that large I go with a reel trailer.

Shopping for a reel stand online and I find way more options than I
expected. Primarily used for guy wire spools with 5000' so weight is
400-500 lbs. I would like to be able to use them for the occasional 5'
spool of 7/8" coax for two way work and for basically anything in
between.
I've used the traditional cable screw jack stand type in the past
with no
problem and I have also used a ladder and pipe in a pinch. Does
anyone have
a preferred type of cable spool stand that they feel is worth
recommendation? Primary use would be for 24 - 30" spools of guy wire
though.
