These actually look like maybe overkill for those bolts, don’t know what size
they are, look like 5/16 or 8 mm. 16AWG would be the common denominator.

I hate spade terminals anyway, prefer ring terminals, don’t want wires
connected to batteries coming loose and flapping around trying to arc weld
stuff. I do enough arc welding with battery wires just due to clumsiness or
stupidness. Speaking of which, I like to put a dual pole DIN rail circuit
breaker in the path to any battery with terminals that big. That would be a
point to change wire gauges if necessary.

You could also use a smaller stranded wire than the terminal calls for and
stuff a couple more wires in before crimping to build it up. Rule of thumb,
double the cross sectional area is equivalent to 3 wire gauges. So two #18
wires would be equivalent to somewhere between #14 and #16. At least with
stranded wire where you can smoosh them together to act like one bigger wire.
Honestly, though, I’d just try a different hardware store, or an electrical
supply store (may have to buy packages of 100), or somewhere like Allied or
Mouser.

Subject: [AFMUG] Electrical connector issue

I have an ICT charger that limits me to small spades. These spades only go as
big as 16 gauge.

The battery terminals have bigger bolts and the hardware store only has 10-12
gauge ring terminals that fit.

I only have a 2a load so gauge isn't a concern but I was thinking 18awg.

Can anyone help with a suggestion or tips? Pics to show the size of what I'm
talking about.
