Not sure of the range on these but doesn’t even use a battery.

Zigbee or Z Wave.

A SmartThings hub is pretty turnkey. Used one until I got round to doing
my own thing with Home Assistant.

I've been using these switches:

There's z-wave remote controls out there you should be able to tie in.
Never used a remote personally though.
