We're using the v13 TrafficEstimatorService to retrieve CPC and position data for a set of keywords but the data returned is not matching what we get from the Google Keyword Tool.
This post (http://adwordsapi.blogspot.com/2008/07/traffic-estimator- service-explained.html) explained that the estimateKeywordList() call by default uses English as the target language and 'All countries and territories' as the location target so we're assuming that if we change the settings on the Keyword Tool (https://adwords.google.com/ select/KeywordToolExternal?defaultView=2) to match then we should be getting similar results. For both the api and the keyword tool we used the following settings: Target language: English Target location: All Countries and Territories Keywords: chess download program chess program download download program chess download chess program program chess download program download chess Max CPC: $0.15 USD Match Type: Phrase Results: Keyword Pos (KT) CPC (KT) Pos (API) CPC (API) chess program download 1-3 $0.11 1-3 0.12-0.15 download chess program 1-3 $0.11 4-6 0.00-0.15 download chess programs 1-3 $0.05 1-3 0 - 0 chess program downloads 1-3 $0.05 1-3 0 - 0 chess download program 1-3 $0.11 1-3 0 - 0 download program chess 1-3 $0.11 1-3 0 - 0 program chess download 1-3 $0.11 1-3 0 - 0 program download chess 1-3 $0.11 1-3 0 - 0 I thought it might be a code error so I reran the keywords using the script Noel used here (http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api/ browse_thread/thread/5974a71693aa6f2d/4aa9b2a8d9084661) but I came out with the same numbers. Any thoughts on whether we're misinterpreting how to simulate the results of the Keyword Tool or if this is another example of the issue demonstrated in the ticket above?
