You can upgrade the library and drive firmware yourself. For the library, you download the file from IBM to your pc. Then through the web gui, you run library firmware upgrade. It's a simple procedure where you point to the firmware file, and it upgrade the library. Takes about 1hr. The library is offline during this process. For Drives, you download the latest firmware file to your pc. Then through the GUI you tell it to upgrade drives. You can upgrade all drives at once, or individually one at a time. THere are a couple options for how to install/activate the code. The easiest way is to tell the library to load, then activate it when the next time the drive is empty. At that point the library power cycles the drive. This works for all except the drives that are defined for control paths. Those you need to powercycle yourself at some point. You can certainly have IBM do it, but sometimes it's just easier yourself.
