We have opened a PMR 60173,370 with IBM regarding the windows 2003 TSM client errors,but didn't hear any good news yet.
How about the IBM site explanations for VSS_E_UNEXPECTED_PROVIDER_ERROR ... Did they come close to matching your problem situation?
