Hi there sorry for the slow reply. very busy. tapeutil i think is a utility and is part of the atape driver set. this utility can be used to test and diagnose the functionality of your library and tapedrives from the operating system and works independant of TSM which can be very useful. we use it on three completely differently configured AIX TSM Servers.the common factor is that they all use IBM Libraries.
all you do is type tapeutil from anywhere at the prompt. you must be root. the rest is very self explanatory. if there are errors the utility dumps sense data to the screen output which can be checked by IBM hardware engineers. hope this helps regards ____________________________________________Nazeer Parak Systems Engineer Arivia.kom * Phone: 203-6062 * Cell: 084-447-7771 E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -----Original Message----- From: Steven Bridge [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2003 3:57 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: TSM from AIX 4.3.3 to AIX 5.2 ( library problem ) > From: Nazeer Parak <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > try tapeutil > also check if your OS ie aix can communicate properly/see the library > Where do I find 'tapeutil ? > > From: "Loon, E.J. van - SPLXM" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > I don't know much about this library, so I don't know if it's supported by > Atape or not. I use : mkdev -c library -t 'ADSM-SCSI-LB' -s 'scsi' -p 'scsi5' -w '6,0' to create the device /dev/lb0 There doesn't appear to be a specific 64-bit device support package or have I missed it somehow. > From: =?koi8-r?Q?=22?=Dmitri Pasyutin=?koi8-r?Q?=22=20?= <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > > 2003.12.02 10:45:39 ANR8840E Unable to open device lb0 with error 2. > > 2003.12.02 10:45:39 ANR8418E DEFINE PATH: An I/O error occurred while > > accessing library STKLIB. > > This is normal, since you need to specify "/dev/lb0" and not "lb0" in the= > "define path" command.
