Zoltan As I understand it you need either BRMS or Robot/Save (a third part product) to connect to TSM. The problem with BRMS is that it treats TSM as a virtual tape drive, so a lot of TSM facilities are bypassed. In particular BRMS can do incremental backups, but TSM can only expire the resulting object when the whole BRMS "tape" expires. You tend to move a lot more data that you would in a native TSM environment. Also the experience of those on this list is that BRMS->TSM backups are really slow. I can't speak about robot/save, as all I know is its name.
There were strong rumours of an impending native AS400 client a while back, but things have gone very quiet since. Any IBMers with knowledge should feel free to jump in at this point. Regards Steve Harris AIX and TSM Admin Queensland Health, Brisbane Australia >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 19/11/2003 3:06:26 >>> We have an AS/400 system we would like to backup with TSM. We read that the OS/400 we have is downlevel so we have ordered and scheduled an upgrade of the OS. However, now there is the issue of BRMS ! Is is absolutely required ? When I read through some of the readme files, the only software requirements is the OS/400 level ? Any help in this area is greatly appreciated ! *********************************************************************************** This email, including any attachments sent with it, is confidential and for the sole use of the intended recipients(s).
