Hector, pay attention to which version of the LTO driver you install,. this is what we saw:
Config: Windows 2000 cluster. STK L700 library microcode 3.0.5.3 6x LTO2 FC drives microcode 327H LTO driver IBM 5.0.4.0 Emulex LP 9002 adapters
What happend:
I had this problem, very strange with the w2k driver for LTO2.
The server installed: Ultrium driver., when clicked on the driver details it showed nothing. Device was working ok said windows (for what it is worth)
When I looked at tsm device driver, tsm claimed all devices including the library (which is normally the only one, drives controlled under native drivers). I could use the library but not write and read from drives... so far so strange. A mount of a tape was done, but tsm server did not see this, library was working, drives were not. We also got errors in the actlog:
ANR8779E Unable to open drive mt2.0.0.3, error number=2. ANR8942E Could not move volume 000068 from slot element 500 to slot-element 1005.
and some error about TSM could not tell what capacity the tape was, pvr something error, when we changed drivers that message was not seen anymore.
I choose to check some things.
One of them was the LTO device driver, when I clicked on update driver and choose everything myself, instead of Ultrium Gen II, I choosed 3580 Gen II.
Suprise, same driver, same file. But I could see driver details, when I deleted paths and drives (including library!) and set up things again. labeled all tapes (LTO1!) again (10) and start using everything, no problems since. Updated the drivers two times!!!, TSM device driver looked like before, (Library TSM, drives native).
This I have never seen when installing LTO2 fc drives, something to keep in mind. I will ask IBM what the differance is between Ultrium definition and 3580 definition in the device driver.
I do not know if STK is getting differant drives from IBM, I asume not.
What I also did was update the library microcode to latest level. Drive microcode was 34X0 available, but not recommended by STK support.
We did several tests with move of the cluster group, but it seems all okay now. We could write and read from all drives without any problems.
If you need anything else, let me know. Peter

A question and a request.
Question first. Would the TSM drivers that comes with the TSM package enough to integrate the STK library and drives? Request: Would someone has similar implementation share the device configuration output?
Appreicated.
