This is true, it will always be able to do that until hardware security is placed in the 3494 library or TSM puts the include/exclude function in. However, your original problem was that it was checking in tapes that belonged to other TSM servers already during a CHECKIN command of an inserted tape. Unless there is a bug, the only way this can happen is a Search=yes and a range specification that overlaps the other server.
