Hi *SMers ! I have a customer who has 2 Magstar 3590 Libraries and wishes to upgrade them to a single 3494 with two drives...
This customer has a particular problem: he manually labeled his 700 tapes using 5-digit labels, and 3494 barcode labels are built with 6-digits ! I know I can buy 6-digit barcode labels with a leading blank, but my main problem is: How TSM will recognize them ?! Will it recognize as a 5-digit or a "5-digit + blank" ?! This is a big issue for me because TSM compares the barcode label with the one physically written on the tape, and they should be the same otherwise the tape will be rejected by TSM... Has anyone migrated this kind of labels, even in another tape model ?!
