You can verify your setup in advance (we've been through this last year):
I assume the new AIX box you are moving your ADSM server to is already
up and running with the final IP address.
Simply try "mtlib -l /dev/lmcp0 -qI" to get the inventory of your library.
If this should fail I can think of two reasons:
(1) /etc/ibmatl.conf does not point to your library
(2) your new ADSM server (address) is not authorized to access the 3494
Good luck!

If you are using TCP/IP communication method (vs rs232) you can go ahead and
have your new host talking to the ATL (now).
Just have to define the AIX's address (stuff) on the 3494 (and put in all
the drivers on aix)
But you don't need tape drives in the atl to talk to the atl... (if you are
going to just switch the drives over to the new aix box later...)

Subject: 3494 setup on new host server

This weekend I'm moving my ADSM server to a new AIX box and the only part
I'm really nervous about is the 3494 library. Can someone point me to a
good set of procedures for configuring and setting up this library on a new
host? The particular piece that concerns me is that the new host is on a
different subnet than the current server. Will that involve some routing
configuration changes on the 3494 itself?

thanks,
/gina
