Hi Zoltan,
not really, but:
i set up my testing environment for ISP 8 partially on ubuntu (one
LibMan and one LibClient on one host). Using SP8.1.6 it worked well,
update to SP8.1.7 was no problem.
installing the lintape driver looks a little bit strange as you have to
use the rpmbuild tool to build ".deb" packages.
A couple of days ago i want to set up a new server for our Exchange
backup, but using SP 8.1.8 it fails during formatting the database with
rc:499. IBM is working on the SR ... i'm not sure maybe because the
support matrix ends with ubuntu 16.04.2? but my test environment runs
ubuntu 18.04.3, so that shouldn't really be the problem. Maybe I'll test
SP 8.1.6 again ..
best

RHEL has become too expensive for us (even before IBM bought them) so we
started a university-wide project to migrate all RHEL servers to CentOS
with the exception of servers with vendor applications that don't support
CentOS.
This includes IBM / ISP but the "IBM Spectrum Protect Supported Operating
Systems" page says they support *Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS and all updates are
supported starting with IBM Spectrum Protect 8.1.3.000.* for an ISP server
and there are lin_tape drivers for Ubuntu. So now we are talking about
migrating the ISP servers to Ubuntu.
Anyone out there made this transition?
