We experienced the same problem. We found out that the files that were
being backed up were larger that the disk pool area which caused *sm
to go straight to tape. Watch your backups and check the file size.
This should start you in the right direction.

If you check the contents table you can get the file sizes.
select * from contents where node_name='NODE_NAME'

Subject: Help - backups go to tape instead of disc pool, from DB2

Hello,
we run adsm server 3.1.2.50, base client 3.7.2.0 and DB2 6.1.1 on AIX 4.3.3

All DB backups start and immediately ask for mount of 1 tape / session. They
should go to the disc storage pool !

Why? I checked disc pools ( all have NO SIZE LIMIT), I checked all backup
and archive copy groups, no one has a tape pool as destination pool.

Please give me any clue about why these backups want to mount tapes...

Tanks a lot,
