and you  checked that the disks are also readwrite ! ?

to let me know all is well, or not
OK, sure all client code levels work with all server code levels BUT...
the only time I've seen wierd things like that happen is with server to
server communications...
If my logical volume being opened by one server had a listed size of more
storage available in the disk pool (for my server to server virtual
volumes... so basically an archive pool... I won't get off on the details
here...)
Anyway  if for some reason your client is performing its preallocation of
space and there isn't that much available in your diskpool, then it will
roll to tape !   and remember preallocation is based on the size of the file
as it sits on the client... even if you use compression, it will preallocate
the entire size of the file and free any unused space in the end.
