We do:
1) Backup Disk
2) Backup Tape
3) Backup DB
4) Run checkouts to get tapes off site.
5) Migrate
6) Expire
7) Backup DB
8) Run Checkin of scratch tapes to fill library (This could be done as part
of step 4 as well).
The first DB backup will be use for Disaster Recover of the server. There
is no need to migrate data on onsite storage pools because you won't be
using the primary pools at a DR. The second DB backup will be used if you
have to restore your DB because of corruption. In this case it is best to
have the data migrated so you don't have to restore data to disk.

Subject: BACKUP STGPOOL and BACKUP DB Question
Hello All
I set up a storage pool DISKPOOL, a tape pool DLTPOOL1 (4 tapes) and a
copypool
DLTPOOL2 (4 tapes).
DISKPOOL is migrated to the next pool DLTPOOL1. After that I would do a
BACKUP STGPOOL DISKPOOL1 DLTPOOL2
and
BACKUP STGPOOL DLTPOOL1 DLTPOOL2
and finally
BACKUP DB DEVCLASS=DLTCLASS1 SCRATCH=NO TYPE=FULL VOLUMENAMES=TAPE1,TAPE2
BACKUP DB DEVCLASS=DLTCLASS2 SCRATCH=NO TYPE=FULL
VOLUMENAMES=TAPE101,TAPE102
What is the best scenario to
1) Migrate
2) backup the diskpool
3) backup the tape pool
4) Backup DB
5) Create a second backup of the DB?
Thanks for any information
Regards
