Would you also want X a/blah/ to make three insertions in a file that has three zeroxed views open, &c? It seems like a decision the author of the tool had to take & I'm not convinced he took the wrong one. There could even be an argument for adding a Z cmd that does what you want; code it and share if it's useful! or perhaps doing multi-select properly deserves a more thorough overhaul.
