can you look at pixels through a magnifying glass and see if an image pixel affects more than one physical one? may it happen there's a resolution mismatch? VGAs can have artifacts which is very hard to get fixed: it is very important to get proper timining of video modes (things like refresh hz, sync +/- etc.) even though resolutions are identical. The other day I've got to craft custom vgadb entries using values captured by X11 through DDC.
