with the thumb drive, what happens when you hit enter at the "use DMA for ide" prompt? with the cdrom, your machine is hanging because 9load isn't properly probing the ahci drives. bios has left ahci in a funky power state. early versions of ahci for 9load had a lot of drouble with power mgnt because i originally wrote it for version 0.95 of the spec, which didn't have any. - erik
