Nothing odd about it - I've had three SC847E26-JBOD cases and they've all been 
faulty in one way or another, looking closer at the circuit boards I see bad 
soldering in a lot of places, components which have clearly been exposed to too 
much heat during soldering.  And SuperMicro being less than helpful & competent 
in solving the issues.
I won't get into the whole controller / array incompatibility issues we've been 
through with SuperMicro (if you look at their HCL, only RAID controllers with 
internal SAS connectors are supported with the SC847E26-JBOD box, makes no 
sense)
