Thanks for the reply. In that case, wouldn't it be better to, as you say, start with a 6 drive Z2, then just keep adding drives until the case is full, for a single Z2 zpool?
Or even Z3, if that's available now? I have an 11x 5.1/4 bay case, with 3x 5-in-3 hot swap caddies giving me 15 drive bays. Hence the plan to start with 5, then 10, then all the way to 15.
