Highend HW raid controller support capacity expansion (adding a new drive to an existing array). There is also an experimental feature (atleast it was when i used it) of mdadm (linux soft raid) which allows you to do the same thing (i think they call it modifying the geometry of the array in their docs) but you need certain kernel features turned on. -- Scott Kaelin 0x6BE43783
