It would be of great utility even if considered only as a diagnostic measure - ie, for qualifying tests or when something else raises suspicion and you want to eliminate/confirm sources of problems. With a suitable pointer in a FAQ/troubleshooting guide, it could reduce the number / improve the quality of problem reports related to bad h/w. -- Dan.
