There's no problem with the symlink being followed by CIFS clients, including windows. It just appears as if it's a normal directory that you can look inside. If anybody were trying to backup the ZFS root directory via CIFS, and didn't have the ability (or intelligence) to exclude the snapshots directory, sure it could be a problem. But I certainly know I don't have that problem.
