What is the current fletcher2? A while back I seem to recall reading a discussion in the zfs-code forum about how the original zfs fletcher2 was found to be unexpectedly weak and broken so they updated the "fletcher2" algorithm and assigned it a new enumeration so that fresh blocks use the corrected algorithm. I could be just imagining all of this but that is what I remember today.
Since you are using Solaris 10 U4 maybe you are using the dinosaur version of fletcher2?
