We had a similar problem with a T2000 and 2 TB of ZFS storage. Once the usage reached 1 TB, the write performance dropped considerably and the CPU consumption increased. Our problem was indirectly a result of fragmentation, but it was solved by a ZFS patch. I understand that this patch, which fixes a whole bunch of ZFS bugs, should be released soon.
