Yup, I'd agree with that too. If the desktop guys want snapshotting to be as simple as possible, could ZFS be configured so that this property is set on creation by default?
That means that it's something that just works for the average user, more advanced users can create pools that don't auto snapshot, and importing any existing pool preserves the current behaviour.
