How full were these filesystems?  Scrubbing only verifies data which
is written, not the entire surface of the disk.

A terabyte which is read at 100 megabytes per second will take about
10,000 seconds to read, or about three hours.  So I'm guessing you had
a mostly empty zpool to test.
