you can migrate pre u5 ufs to u6 zfs via lucreate, zones included.

There is no support issues for zones on a system with zfs root, that I'm aware 
of, and Lu 
( Live upgrade ) in u6 will support zones on zfs upgrade.

zones can be on zfs or any other supported config in combination with zfs root.

Is there a specific question you had in mind with regard to sparse zones and 
zfs root, no
