I am wondering how many SATA controllers most motherboards have for their built-in SATA ports.
Mine, an ASUS M2A-VM, has four ports, but OpenSolaris reports them as belonging to two controllers. I have seen motherboards with 6+ SATA ports, and would love to know if any of them have more controller density or if two-to-one is the norm.
