It seems that the main reason for this is that responding to faults 
becomes haphazard and unsynchronized.  Unlike the space shuttle, there 
are not three flight computers, with cross-checking.  SVM and ZFS are 
completely different software developed in different eras.  If SVM and 
ZFS make opposite decisions, then the system can not recover.
