AFAIK, ZFS boot will only work with disk slices at the moment, so you still need to create an x86 (fdisk) partition for Solaris and at least one slice for root. Your options are to netinstall or install to UFS and copy the files to ZFS. See http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/boot/
