I'd be inclined to go for SXCE rather than SXDE myself - mainly because there are good things around the corner (CIFS integration being the obvious one for a NAS) that you'll be able to try out sooner that way. > My hardware is supported under both platforms. For a home NAS, I wouldn't worry much about maintenance taking a lot of time. It's up you whether you need a bleeding edge feature or not, but it's nice to have the option.
