this test was done an an ancient suse 9.1 box, fuse 2.5.3, 1,25 GB RAM
(1 gb
in use for other apps), 2x80gb 3ware raid1
first (vague) conclusion:
gzip compresses best, lzo is fastest and it seems that fuse (or
whatever) is
the real bottleneck - at least not cpu or i/o
after waiting for so long - 2 additional compression schemes for zfs - in
one day!
