Thanks for the quick answer! That's exactly what I suspected. Btw I'm looking
around for hardware demands on this system, and I have problems finding
anything. I was thinking about using an AMD XP2600 on a VIA KT-4 mobo wich has
a few S-ATA ports, three IDE connections and an extra IDE card. Hard drives
connected to them are all visible from the BIOS. Does that mean that I can use
them with OpenSolaris as well, or isn't it that simple? And is this system to
anorectic for OpenSolaris which will mainly be accessed as a network media
server from one computer at the time (either the HTPC or the bedroom computer)
with the most demanding task being serving one ripped BluRay/HD-DVD at a time
this way?

As far as performance goes, you should be fine. For a long time I
used an AMD XP 2500+ as my "main" home machine, and it was just fine.
I don't believe you mentioned how much RAM you have. I had 1GB in
that system, but 512 should be ok for light, streaming usage.

My biggest concerns with your system would be the add-in IDE card not
being supported, and/or the SATA chipset not being supported. I have
little experience with SATA on Solaris, and have only ever used the
SiiG 3114. From what I've read here YMMV...

Quick answer though is to download CD1 of the latest release, boot to
a shell, and take a look.
