Well, I'm doing very similar config in a production (to complete other
responses about their laptop usage).
Works fine for me on a production system too (root + swap slices SVM,
big slice ZFS) but mirrored to 2nd disk with same layout.

It works great, no problems and usability... well, that's probably
most important reason in such configs.
