I asked this question a while back on the drivers list
and got no response. The latest reference driver I have
seen for linux is 3.6.1 and is tri-licensed( commercial,
BSD and GPL). Also, FreeBSD has integrated a working
driver for the 88SX[5][6]xx series. Please see

http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/sys/dev/ata/ata-chipset.c

While I certainly don't have the skills to write a driver
for inclusion, it would seem some documention in the
form of reference drivers is available. I would love to
see an open sourced Marvell sata driver as well.
