It is not free for most systems where it matters: in the datacenter.
The free-license restrictions are targeted towards small systems.
They are also pricing support by number of CPUs, how 20th century!
ZFS has no such restrictions.
I wonder if ZFS has "helped" it to happen :)
I'll give them some credit, it is a step forward.
