Try executing libc. It shows the version of gcc that was used to be
compiled. Here is a sample output from *my workstation*.

[geckos@localhost ~]$ /lib/libc-2.24.so
GNU C Library (GNU libc) stable release version 2.24, by Roland McGrath et
al.
