Hi Ross, The reason is we want to know if the version of mesa in oecore has changed or not. EMGD has specific needs of mesa, and in the testing we are not finding any issues with v8.0.4 of mesa. But that may not hold true for future versions of mesa, so we would like to pin the version here so we know that this version works as expected.
