Not really - the video player can't know the pipeline to use for each specific video. GStreamer's playbin element should have constructed the pipeline that you specified. The video player really is a toy and no more, but I've just picked up a Cedar Trail netbook to fix issues like this. I'm about to leave for a conference but I'll bring it with me and see if there's anything obviously wrong.
