To my knowledge, Haddock doesn't provide a facility to look things up - or does it, in some convoluted way? Anyways, this is provided by Hoogle, which maintains an index. However, Hoogle doesn't seem to provide an API, short of invoking the hoogle executable. Useful to know: You can do a (more or less) unambiguous lookup with hoogle --info.
